Some pieces need more than four straight edges. Waterjet cutting follows a programmed path to create curves, shaped openings, holes, and profiles that would be difficult to produce with basic cutting methods.
For hard materials, water carries a fine abrasive through a focused nozzle. The stream removes material along the design without a heat-affected zone. The result is a useful starting point for specialty fabrication, from a glass panel with carefully placed cutouts to a custom part that needs a specific outline.

Glass
Shaped panels, internal openings, holes, and decorative cutouts in suitable glass. Our shop footage shows this work in progress. Any required tempering comes after cutting and fabrication.
Metal
Abrasive waterjet can profile steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. Ask about plates, brackets, sign shapes, or decorative components; include the alloy and thickness for review.
Stone & Tile
The process can create shaped pieces, inlays, and cutouts in suitable stone and tile. Material condition, support, and fragile details affect the cutting plan. Share the exact product before committing to a design.
Other Specialty Materials
Some plastics and composites are also candidates. Send the material name or data sheet and intended use so TVS can assess compatibility, edge requirements, and whether a sample cut is needed.

What is waterjet cutting?
Waterjet cutting uses a focused, high-pressure stream of water to follow a programmed shape. For hard materials such as glass, metal, and stone, an abrasive is added to the stream to remove material. It is a cold cutting process, so it does not create the heat-affected zone associated with thermal cutting.Can a waterjet cut tempered glass?
No. Already-tempered glass can shatter when cutting or piercing releases its internal stress. If your finished piece needs tempering, its shape, holes, and cutouts must be planned and fabricated before that heat treatment. Tell TVS how and where the glass will be used so we can review the right fabrication sequence.What thickness, part size, or tolerance can TVS handle?
Send the material, thickness, overall dimensions, and any critical tolerances for review. Feasibility depends on the material, geometry, holding method, cutting setup, and finish requirements. TVS will confirm the scope for your particular part before work is scheduled.Do I need a finished CAD drawing?
A dimensioned drawing is a useful starting point. If you have a DXF or DWG file, mention it in your inquiry so we can coordinate file delivery and review. A sketch or photo can start the conversation, but production still requires verified dimensions and a suitable cutting file. Confirm the units, material, thickness, quantity, and finished use.Will a waterjet-cut edge be ready to install?
That depends on the application. A cut edge may still need polishing, deburring, or another finishing step. Glass may also need tempering or a different safety-glass specification. Tell us which edges will be visible or handled, and how the piece will fit, so those requirements are included in the scope.Can I request one custom piece or bring my own material?
Tell us whether you need one piece or a repeat quantity and whether you already have the material. We will review suitability, setup, and handling before confirming the job.
